Seri Simanggang Hotel

Seri Simanggang Hotel is a three star hotel with 158 rooms, a 10 storey building with supermarket, supersave store, Singapore Chicken Rice, Sugar Bun ( Fast Food ) and many more at all corners. With all normal facilities as a three star hotel has, Seri Simanggang is at the moment the only three star and tallest hotel building in Sri Aman.

There are Banquet Hall which caters for 80 Tables and it can also be smaller groups as the hall can be partition into five. There are 5 meeting rooms on the second floor. Sri Aman is located about 194 km from Kuching and the road journey takes about 2 ½ to 3 hours. Sri Aman is a market town and port, and the capital of Sri Aman District and Sri Aman Division in Sarawak, east Malaysia. Sri Aman is also called Bandar Sri Aman, and was formerly known as Simanggang. Catch the bus at Kuching Sentral. The Batang Lupar flows 200m km from its source in the Kapuas Mountain to the Teluk Datu of the South China sea. As its mouth river forms broadcast estuary in Sarawak, as well as accommodating the largest 4 benaks. Pesta Benak is one of Sarawak’s iconic event and celebrated on a grand scale centered in Sri Aman.

There will also be a longboat paddling competition, tidal bore surfing, water sports, food and trade fair. Fort Alice, built in 1864, is the oldest heritage building in Sri Aman, constructed following the victory of Rajah Charles Brooke, the second Rajah of Sarawak, over Rentap, the last of the major Iban chieftains, in 1860. The Fort was named after Charles Brooke’s wife, Margaret Alice Lili de Windt. It served as a defensive structure controlling the Lupar River. The structure was built on a strategic hilltop position and had a commanding view of the river with cannons bearing down to stop any threats coming from upriver. It played a major role in suppressing piracy, slavery, and head-hunting, while encouraging trade and expanding the authority of the Rajah. Fort Alice was the Simanggang administrative center, housing various government departments and even a prison.
