Search for Wild OrangUtan – Batang Ai

Your tour in seach of wild orangutan begins from the capital city of Kuching. The road journey to Batang Ai lake will take approximately six hours with a stop in the bazaar of Lachau for lunch. From the shore of the lake, you will travel upriver to the Nanga Sumpa longhouse. The longboat journey will take about one and a half hour, depending on river conditions. Interact with the Iban community of Nanga Sumpa, long being a recipient of a sustainable community and nature-based tourism programme.

The Batang Ai area is home to the most significant population of wild orangutan in Sarawak. There are opportunites to spot pig-tailed macaques, hornbills and a variety of birds as well. It may be humid and hot in the jungle but there is plenty of refreshing clear water as well. Swim in the waterfall or the river to cool off.

You will spend two nights at Nanga Sumpa lodge and two nights in a jungle camp. (Lubok Kasai) The lodge is located next to the Nanga Sumpa longhouse.
