Sematan Town

Sematan is a picturesquare fishing port located about 110km from Kuching and the gateway to Tanjung Datu National Park.  The long beach north of the town is a popular weekend getaway for residents of Kuching.  Due to the low sloping sand you have to walk out some distance if you want to swim.

There are several chalet developments at Sematan beach, of which the best value is probably Sematan Palm Beach Resort, and the Nomad Sematan Resort.

Teluk Melano is a Malay fishing village situated at the western tip of Sarawak, about an hour’s boat ride from Sematan.  The village’s homestay programme offers visitors the chance to experience village life and enjoy the many natural attractions of the area.  Activities include snorkelling, diving, fishing, jungle trekking and trips to nearlby Tanjung Datu National park.

Pulau Talang-Talang Kecil, a part of the Talang-Satang National Park, is also located not too far off the coast of Sematan.
