SHANGHAI And NANJING Travel Agents Fly In For A Five Day Visit

KUCHING, Saturday – Nine travel agents from Shanghai and Nanjing, China flew in today for a five-day familiarization trip to Kuching.

Four Shanghai travel agents are from the Haolede International, Tongcheng Travel Agency and Ctrip while the five from Nanjing represents the China International Travel Service (Jiang Su), JSBC International Tour Service, Nanjing Zhongbei Travel Service and China Kang Hui Nanjing International Travel Service.

The familiarization trip’s  will showcase among others Sarawak’s popular tourist attractions which include the  Semenggoh Wildlife Centre, Bako National Park, Kuching City Tour, the Sarawak Museum, Sarawak Cultural Village.

The trip will enable the visiting agents to assess key attractions and unique marketable cultures in  and around the city  that can attract  Chinese travelers and holiday makers.

The Sarawak Tourism Board is hosting the group for their stay and look forward to tap the lucrative travel markets and making better business connections between the local Sarawak and China tour agencies.

Arrival statistics from January to June this year showed an increase in the number of visitors’ arrival from China by 11.65% as compared to 2015.

32,916 arrivals was recorded from China last year while  a total of 17,641 was logged  from January to June this year raising hope of a  high probability of overtaking arrival records from previous years.

With increasingly frequent tourism promotion in the China and topping up with more business travel, a positive growth of arrivals is expected and will continue.

This year, the Sarawak tourism industry has focused its promotion on the Asian market, with emphasis in Singapore, Hong Kong and China.
